Krillion Hints Without the Full Spoiler

You do not always need an answer. Sometimes you need one better direction. Move down this ladder and stop as soon as your own idea appears.

A four-step hint ladder

01

Name the category

Say what a valid answer must be before trying to make it unusual. This keeps a deep cut from drifting outside the prompt.

02

Leave the default region

If your first thought is from where you live, search your memory for another continent, language, cuisine, league, or tradition.

03

Move through time

Try an older term, a retired technology, a historical figure, or something introduced recently enough to be missed.

04

Use specialist vocabulary

A precise scientific name, trade, subgenre, or local term can be rarer while still being easy to justify.

Example: “Name a bird”

Start at bird. Leave the most familiar local species. Move to another habitat, then another continent, then a specialist group such as a flightless parrot or a deep-ocean seabird.
